“He will never be forgotten”: Eddie Tabash honors Skeptical Inquirer’s Kendrick Frazier

November 7, 2022

Today, it is with great sadness that the Center for Inquiry must announce the passing of Ken Frazier, the editor of Skeptical Inquirer. Ken’s long and successful career in promoting the empirical method and science had a significant impact in persuading countless people to abandon superstition. He was a true world leader in the effort to help as many people as possible reject unproven paranormal and supernatural claims and follow actual evidence wherever it leads.

His commitment to pursuing the search for truth and his unrelenting efforts in refuting the purveyors of falsehood were matched by his compassion and kindness for everyone he met. He simultaneously understood both human frailty and human ingenuity. He developed a very non-threatening way of assisting people in overcoming even their most treasured beliefs, when those beliefs had no trustworthy foundation. Yet, Ken was fearless in challenging false claims. He made sure that even the most widely held perspectives were subjected to the crucible of critical examination.

Ken never felt glee in popping the balloon of people’s cherished but untrue beliefs. Rather, he felt an obligation to gently but firmly help humanity reach a point that whatever was believed was based on reliable evidence. To his wife, Ruth, and the rest of his family and friends, we wish as much comfort and peace as is possible during this time of great loss. Ken Frazier devoted his life to spreading education and science to every society and every nation. He will never be forgotten.
