Attorney General Bill Barr
Says YOU are the Cause of All Social Ills

Maybe you heard about the shocking comments made by Attorney General Bill Barr recently when he spoke to an audience at Notre Dame University. I, for one, was shaken by the callousness, duplicity, and sheer unconstitutionality of his words.

Friends, these aren’t simply the words of a religious zealot. These are the words of the head of the Justice Department. The Attorney General of the United States claims that you and I and roughly 30 percent of the U.S. population (the so-called Nones, i.e., religiously unaffiliated) are the cause of all social ills. That we are extremists. That we are amoral. And that the remedy is religious education of one very specific kind.

Are you as angry reading this as I am writing it? It doesn’t take a law degree to understand what’s going on here: it’s the willful undermining of church-state separation, plain and simple.

Please support the Center for Inquiry today. Help us keep all this essential programming thriving and growing. And help us push back against the subversion of our Constitution by the people currently in power.

With every donation, we tell the religious Right that we are determined to fight against religious rule encroaching on our public lives. With every donation, we are able to stand for the values of the Enlightenment and amplify your voice.
