The public is being inundated by misinformation about the coronavirus pandemic at every level, from blatant internet scams to the false claims of the president of the United States.
The Center for Inquiry, as the foundational institution for skeptical inquiry into extraordinary claims of pseudoscience, religion, and the paranormal, is bringing our unique expertise to this global crisis.
Today we’re launching the Coronavirus Resource Center: Inoculation Against Misinformation, where we will collect, curate, and communicate the most relevant and useful science and reality-based resources for information regarding the coronavirus disease, COVID-19, with a particular focus on material that separates fact from fiction, data from propaganda, and scientific theory from conspiracy theory.
We will bring you the best information from around the web and leverage the expertise and talents of CFI staff, fellows, and columnists on our own media platforms: our authoritative magazine Skeptical Inquirer from the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry, the CFI Free Thinking blog, and our podcast Point of Inquiry.
Visit the Coronavirus Resource Center and share its content with family and friends so we can slow the spread of misinformation just like we’re trying to slow the spread of the virus.
We are here during this crisis to support the reality-based community and give people the informational tools they need to stay safe. We need those who care about separating truth from quackery to step up as well and help us get the job done. Donate now, and be a part of the solution.
Plus: Help for Learning at Home
For teachers, parents, and students, we are offering free six-hour guided lessons on evolution from our Teacher Institute for Evolutionary Science. Developed by TIES director (and middle school science teacher) Bertha Vazquez, “All About Evolution” is available in two versions, one designed for middle school and another for high school students.
