Dr. John M. Suarez is a retired Professor of Psychiatry at UCLA, and the founder and director of the Section on Law and Psychiatry. He is a lifelong social activist, concerned with Civil Rights, Social and Economic Justice, the Environment, Public Education and the First Amendment. He is on the Board of Trustees of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, and the Chairman of its Committee on Education.
He has published extensively in the areas of Legal Psychiatry and the Separation of Church and State, including a chapter (The Path to Theocracy – The Purgation of the First Amendment) in the book The Fundamentals of Extremism – The Christian Right in America. He has spoken to numerous audiences, and has appeared on radio and television, addressing various aspects of church/state separation and secular humanism.
Being retired, Dr. Suarez is always eager to speak to groups on issues dear to his heart.
