The Center for Inquiry welcomes Lucien Greaves, Co-Founder, and Spokesperson for The Satanic Temple, a non-theistic religious organization that fights for equality for women, LGBTQ groups, free speech, and encourages benevolence and empathy among all people. They reject tyrannical authority, advocate practical common sense and justice.
This talk explores dissociative identity disorders, repressed memories, how licensed mental health professionals helped create the “Satanic Panic” of the 1980s and ‘90s, how the satanic panic was another instance of dangerous, sanctioned pseudoscience, and how discredited mental health therapies are still practiced today.
Grey Faction is a campaign of The Satanic Temple that exposes malpractice and pseudoscientific mental health care practices linked to conspiracy theories like Satanic ritual abuse. The Grey Faction protests medical conferences, initiates legal action, and petitions medical boards. The faction has protested conferences held by the International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, which advocates for the discredited practice of recovered-memory therapy.
This talk took place at the CFI Headquarters on April 6, 2018
